MicaBella Cosmetics Mineral Eye ShadowI received the MicaBella Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow in my February 2013 Glossybox. It was all about looking your best on V day. That’s Valentine’s day by the way! I got a sample pot of shade Intelligence 94 which is a pale chocolate or deep cooper colour, and I actually really like it. It’s great for a subtle eye shadow for work, or applied with more depth for a sultry and mysterious night look. Team it up with a royal blue eyeliner and you’ll look majestic without taking away from the natural sparkle of your eyes.

I’m not really a fan of mineral eye shadows or mineral powders in general because they are so messy to apply. They’re fine if you’ve got the time to apply the eye shadows neatly and then get rid of the excess powder which will fall on your cheeks – and in my case, mysteriously ends up all over my face – but if you’re short on time then mineral powders are a pain in the arse. Also, I’ve found that the lid has come loose and spilt powder in my make up bag… Yet I still insist on using them because:

- They glide on so well!
- I like how soft they feel, both during application and whilst wearing them.
- It’s nice how you can make them into a gel eyeliner or thicker and deeper eye shadow by applying with a wet brush.
- It’s handy not having to carry an eye shadow palette around with you!

The things I like about the MicaBella Cosmetics Eye Shadow is that it has a subtle shimmer which adds an extra depth to your eye make up. It makes your eyes stand out more without weighing down your eye lids. Application is simple too (again, ignoring the mess) because you can do it with an eye shadow brush (ensuring to tap off excess powder quite vigorously) or with your finger tip, and it blends well and easily with both options. The handy powder tray which sits inside of the pot ensures you don’t get overloaded with too much powder either. Although my favorite thing was how the eye shadow lasts so well on my eye lids. It survived a full working day with just a little fading and creasing.

The MicaBella Mineral Eye Shadow is free of any preservatives, chemicals, dyes, talc, oils or other fillers so it’s generally good for all skin types. My only downside (again, other than the mess) is the price. It’s £14.95 for a pot which will probably last you a really long time, but a little steep for just 1 shade. Also it’s a quite hard to buy MicaBella products. You can buy them online where obviously you can’t try them on, or in some shopping centres which have those mini stalls in the middle of the aisles. As they’re not easy to come by I don’t think I’ll be buying any more of these mineral eye shadows.
