This aircraft has the distinction of being the first aircraft to scramble in response to the World Trade Center attacks. On September 11th 2001, two U.S. Air Force F-15 Eagles from the 101st Fighter Squadron, 102nd Fighter Wing, Otis Air National Guard Base (ANGB) Massachusetts were scrambled by NORAD. First flown in 1972, close to 1,200 Eagles have been built to date. It is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat. On 16 September 2009, the last F-15A was retired, marking the end of service for the F-15A and F-15B models in the United States. Nikon D7000 w/18-200 mm, processed with Aperture and Snapheal.
