Used to be you would Google “Madlib” and come up with a couple of ancient interviews, but now the man seems to finally be opening up a bit (here and here) and now he has a new video out where he “makes a beat” using 10 Sony MVR’s. It is not clear in the video exactly what they are or how they were involved, but it is super cool to see Madlib playing the drums along with doing his thing on the sequencer and CDJ. If you are still sleeping on Piñata, his latest collaboration with Freddie Gibbs, you need to get on it now, it’s one of the best hip-hop releases so far this year.
