MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Review.

I love face powders

:D
on a daily basis, I only use a little compact on my face for a fresh look. Forget foundations, I hardly even use TMs or BB creams daily
:P

And in the early months of last year, I got so crazy about compacts that I was hoarding them like crazy

:P

I had heard a lotttt about the MAC MSF and really wanted to try it and to be honest, this is one of the most expensive products I own

:P

But is it worth it? Read on to know…

So, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is a simple compact, known as MSF in short

:P

It comes in a very simple yet classy black compact packaging. It doesn’t have a mirror and has only a transparent lid on it. I always fear I might break it so for carrying it anywhere, I always keep it padded between a lot of clothes

:P
Plus the powder is in baked form so I don’t want to risk breaking such an expensive thing
:P

The packaging doesn’t come with a brush or puff either. Personally, I don’t use the puffs that come with compacts as its better to use a powder brush but yes, for touchups during the day you’ll need to carry a separate brush when you take this. But it’s very light and compact so carrying it is easy!

This powder comes in around 8-10 shades I think ranging from Light to Dark. I have Medium.

The powder comes in a dome in the pan and mine has become a little flat now! I have this since 10 months now I think.

The powder is very finely milled. There’s also quite some fallout because of this reason. I use a fluffly brush to apply this like Bourjois kabuki brush or Real Techniques powder brush. I get a smooth even finish. And the powder is very soft to touch.

MAC defines it as “A luxurious domed face powder with minerals, slowly baked to provide a dimensional yet natural-matte finish. Provides perfect low coverage. Use to set and fix foundation or as a touch-up throughout the day.”

I would say the definition is very true!

The powder gives very low coverage. It won’t cover and blemishes or dark circles. Also, the powder is very light so no point in layering it.

Since I don’t use any foundation or TM mostly, I only use a compact on a daily basis so I don’t use this is as a ‘setting powder’. I use it by itself and it gives me a very natural soft finish. I don’t need a lot of coverage on most happy days so I can get away with this alone! It evens my skin tone and gives a softly focused finish that I love! I don’t know what this powder does to the skin but it makes my skin look good! It also gives a soft glowy look, nothing very noticeable but just something that makes my skin look nice and healthy but you can’t point out what exactly the good thing is

:P

If you look very very carefully in the pan, you can see some very very small shiny particles. I guess these give the soft glowy effect to skin.

Also, since it’s a mineral based powder, I never feel bad about using this daily as it won’t harm my skin in the long run

:D

The shade that I have Medium, matches my skin tone very well and the powder blends in the skin so so well that it looks like there is nothing. It gives a very natural look.

One thing I want to point out is that it doesn’t control oil at all. Though my skin is oily in summers, I generally use a mattifying powder in summers and I use this MSF lightly over it to give a nice finish. But in winters when my skin is on the dry side, I loveeee using this. Actually even in summers many times I use this by itself when I have to be indoors all day. So if you have oily skin and want something mattifying to control the oil, you shouldn’t invest in this. But this is best for a nice even finish on skin and a healthy glowy look

:)
I used it very rarely in summers as I was disappointed that it didn’t control oil but I’ve been using it daily in winters and now would probably use it better in summers too. I’m glad I realized this is not meant for oil control and it should be used for what it is meant.

I bought this for Rs.1650 in March last year so maybe the price has gone up by now. Yes it’s expensive but then it’s MAC and this powder will last me a really long time as it’s a huge quantity so I don’t regret buying it at all!

Overall, it’s a lovely low coverage face powder which gives a very smooth finish to skin. Not meant to control oil and better for dry skin. I love it and recommend you all to give it a try

:)

Price: Rs.1650 in India for 10gm. Please correct me if prices have increased.
