Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends, and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity.
Based on the YA Novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, Love, Simon was a truly beautiful coming of age love story. While they could have taken an edgier take on the story, it stayed true to its Teen Rom Com roots. I laughed, I cried, I awwwed on cue. It was exactly what I hoped it would be.
I think everyone needs to see this movie if they haven't already.
What I loved was the way that it showcased this relationship, two strangers bonding and falling in love purely through their correspondence without knowing anything more about one another than their share secrets and conversations. It showed how much easier it can be to be yourself and express yourself to someone who doesn't know who you are. Also how bonding that experience can be.
For someone who spends a great deal of her time corresponding with fellow writers and readers, I could relate to this relationship and the *SPOILER ALERT* the devastation when you go to send that message to find that your friend had disappeared right when your world is beginning to fall apart.
I'm so excited to read the book to see if I enjoy it as much as I did the film.
