Lose Weight Part 1

Are You Serious About Wanting To Lose Weight?

Summer time is just around the corner and the shorts, skirts and bathing suites are going to be coming out. The winter cloths that conveniently cover up our weak areas will soon be packed away. This is the time we all seem to come out and say I need to lose weight.

Weight loss Step 1

There are many variables in losing weight and being able to maintain a healthy weight. The first step you want to concur and make part of your lifestyle is knowing how many calories you are consuming. All of my clients that have been successful on losing weight knew exactly how many calories they were consuming and burning off in a day. This is key to weight loss.

Counting Calories

I might be aging myself but when I first started out in the fitness world I had to calculate my calories with paper and pencil. Yes, paper and pencil. Now we have technology that make many aspects of our life’s easier. You can find apps for your smart phone or websites that will make tracking your calories a snap. You will be able to save your favorite meals and foods. You will be able to track your food intake from prior days to determine if you need to adjust. Some sites even breakdown the macronutrients of the food for you. How convenient is this? With it being this easy there is no excuse why you should not know how many calories you are consuming. If you are serious about weight loss this is well worth your time.

Caloric Needs

This is where it becomes tricky. There are many variables that determine how many calories your body needs in a day. This will be determined by activity, metabolism, stress, lifestyle, sleep and so on. For starters keep this in mind, if you eat more calories than your body burns off then you gain weight. If you consume the same amount of calories your body burns then you will stay the same weight. If you consume less calories than your caloric budget then you will lose weight.

While you are tracking your calories you must also assess your weight. Do this weekly. If you are gaining weight then adjust the calories accordingly. Do not try to lose more than 1-2 pounds per week. This will give you a negative affect and can cause some major health problems.

Always get clearance from your doctor before engaging in any nutrition program and or exercise program. There might be some issues you are not even await of.

The goal is to live a healthy life. Be smart, eat healthy and stay active.
