I did it ~ I braved Times Square to view an upcoming antiquities sale at Christie's thanks to my sister-in-law, and got to play tourist at the height of the season! Joyful holiday decor on the streets and in shop windows, visits to the NBC Experience Store, La Maison du Chocolate and the more youthful Hershey's Store (I got nothing because all of the chocolate had dairy!) and, of course, the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.We started this fun day ~ 10 members of my family in all ~ with a truly delicious lunch in a beautiful setting at NYC's La Masseria. Located on 48th Street around 8th, it has a beautiful, old world feel and an authentic, flavorful Italian menu to match. And so vegan friendly...
Fried zucchini...no egg, just lightly dusted with flour (and then deliciously fried...)
Olive oil with lentils for dipping crusty Italian bread...
Verdure alla griglia...
Crispy grilled carciofi (artichoke hearts)...
Arugola, radicchio, endive, tomato, mushroom, olive and roasted peppers...
Whole wheat ziti pasta with mixed vegetables...
Is your mouth watering yet? Those lentils alone were so good I used them in lieu of salad dressing!
