There really must be something in the water in Scotland, as the country seems to be churning out some of the most exciting artists we’ve seen recently. From the world dominating CHVRCHES to the shock Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers, the sheer volume of incredible sounds that pour from this dreary and cold nation really have put it on the musical radar. “Grip”, the debut track from Glaswegian songstress KLOË, is a testament to this, and at only 18 years old, is an brilliant introduction to an artist glistening with potential. From the pained and soaring vocals to the icy and cathartic production courtesy of Prides’ Lewis Gardner, “Grip” conveys an intimacy and vulnerability way beyond KLOE’s tender years. This is fantastic stuff.
