Recent debut “Shadow of the Wind” by Kagu, or Sean Heathcliff (of Snakadaktal…RIP), settles you into the days of gray we can expect from the winter ahead. The spare guitar along with the pleading tone of his voice effortlessly work together to communicate the reserved yet evocative lyrics, “Stay in the shadow of the wind please/Keep my reflection from your skin/I’ll keep my distance from the wind.” It recalls the pulse of walking down the street on a windy day at dusk when the shadows are starting to take on a crisper form, the cold has numbed your face and your heart is somewhere in the bottom of your shoes.
