Welcome to this week’s Monday Threesome, where we bring you three bands with similar, quality music. The theme of this week is Justice, not the social concept, but the incredible French music project. We’re showing off some tracks from the duo and two very special up-and-coming bands that we feel will combine for a tasty cocktail.

Approaching their songwriting from a different perspective than on their debut, Civilization, Justice were seemingly influenced by the popular disco and rock sounds of the 70’s and 80’s on their newest album Audio, Video, Disco. While their first effort brought to mind a perfect haze of druggy excess, with the falsetto vocals and glitzy synth-work, the newest release is at times an airier effort, though heavy beats still bring home the true value of Justice’s work. These guys are dance music auteurs.

Belispeak – Purity Ring

Lofticries – Purity Ring

Ungirthed – Purity Ring

Though this duo has only released three tracks, they’ve already gained a good deal of attention from the press. Purity Ring (@purity_ring) work within the electronic mold, but their self-given tag of “future pop” is perfectly fitting. They use the heavy beats, samples and keyboard work as a backdrop for ethereal female vocals, creating some truly incredible pop music. Listing influences as diverse as Neon Indian, Baths, Jay-Z and Soulja Boy they’re absolutely a band of the 2010’s decade, synthesizing a new sound from disparate influences.

Move the Stars – Blood Diamonds

Dreams – Blood Diamonds

This Vancouver act continues in the vein of lovely disco and electronic sounds, but they bring more of a bedroom R&B feel. With male vocals and a greater use of samples, their songs, such as “Move the Stars”, have and air of experimentation (like Eno does R&B/Disco) but still exude pop goodness. In fact, “Dreams” is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard this year. Though Blood Diamonds (@blood_diamond5) currently only has five tracks available online, all of them can be streamed on Soundcloud.  Enjoy!
