Justice League Movie to Finally Happen

Warner Bros. has won their case for the rights of Superman and the first thing they’re going to do is film a Justice League movie.

Yesterday, Warner Bros completed their lawsuit regarding the ownership of Superman. If they had not won the case, the new Zack Snyder movie, Man of Steel, and any future projects with Superman would be in jeopardy. According to The Hollywood Reporter,

On Wednesday, a federal judge in California granted the studio’s motion for summary judgment on the question of whether a 1992 agreement with Jean Peavy, the sister of Superman co-creator Joe Shuster, precludes the estate’s attempt to terminate a copyright grant. The decision by U.S. District Court Judge Otis Wright comes four years after another federal judge in California confirmed the validity of a termination notice from the estate of the other co-creator, Jerry Siegel. The termination attempts have threatened Warners’ hold on its lucrative Superman franchise.

Of course those involved with DC Comics and Warner Bros realize they have to make the Justice League happen now. After all the money their competitors brought in with The Avengers, there’s little question of whether this movie would happen, more like when. The Los Angeles Times reports Warner Bros. is hoping shoot the film next year aimed for release during the Summer of 2015. That’s a pretty aggressive date so expect to hear casting and directors being tossed around very quickly.
