Juice Cleanse - How. Why. What.

By Tanvi Rastogi @tanviidotcom

If you are on any one of these social mediums - Twitter | Facebook | Instagram then you probably already know that I recently completed a three-day juice cleanse with Green Heart.

I have been doing a juice cleanse once a year since 2009. I had first read about it in some magazine and got tempted to try it. I have loved it ever since. Last month due to travel and other reasons I found myself getting derailed from my healthy eating habits. Whenever I realize I have fell off my health-bandwagon I find the cleanse to be an instant and effective way to change gears and get back on track. It has worked 7/7 times so far.

This time I contacted Diana from and told her that I was interested in doing a cleanse and trying the juices that she had created with her team. Boy! am I glad I our paths crossed ( were hands down one of the best I had ever tried. Not only were they delicious, they were filling and I could actually taste the flavors and the freshness of its ingredients. Words cannot describe how delectable they were, if you happen to be in the DMV area, you have to try them for yourself. ( Green Heartlast year, at a barre class!) because the juices from Green Heartlocations)

Juice Cleanse - How. Why. What.

Why do the cleanse?

People do it for different reasons. I find juice cleanse to be a simple to make positive changes. It breaks my cycle of craving sugars and carbs. It also provides all the required nutrients to help regulate my digestive system. Juicing regulates my habits and bring back balance in my food choices and portions. Some of the benefits I have personally experienced are:

  • Better well being
  • Reduced appetite (for over-eaters)
  • Better skin
  • Helped digestion
  • Helped bring back balance

Juice Cleanse - How. Why. What.

Sure I do. I do one every year after all. However, you have to know your body and know why you are doing it. You feel a sense of accomplishment once you complete it, which motivates you to continue making healthy choices. And let's be honest, this is probably the only time I get the recommended servings of fruits and veggies, if not more, per day.

However, I would like to emphasize that a juice cleanse is a short-term plan. It is NOT meant for weight loss and is definitely NOT recommended for a long duration. If losing weight is your goal, exercise and eating in moderation is the answer you are looking for. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to make healthy lifestyle changes that you'll be able to maintain throughout your life.
