Joshua Brook Bourbon Review

Joshua Brook Bourbon Review

Joshua Brook Bourbon isn’t terrible, but it isn’t good either. It essentially tastes and smells like a watered down Heaven Hill that came from casks that didn’t make the cut to be Evan Williams. Which is likely what it is.

In Frank-Lin’s Words: Joshua Brook Bourbon

None Found

It always worries me when a company doesn’t even list a product it puts out. Couple that with the fact that there’s not a lot about it online from other writers and I basically have nothing else to say in this top part… so on with the Joshua Brook Bourbon review.

Joshua Brook Bourbon Review

EYE
Light caramel

NOSE
Peanuts, caramel, raw grain, alcohol and a bit of cinnamon, vanilla and maple. It’s so light and delicate I feel like it’ll disappear at any moment.

PALATE
Caramel, peanuts, cinnamon, grain, alcohol and a touch of oak and vanilla. Doesn’t taste bad, but like the aroma it’s light and there isn’t much there.

FINISH
Short dissolve of caramel and cinnamon into peanut butter.

BALANCE, BODY & FEEL
There’s not much there to balance but it’s not unbalanced, light thin body and a watery feel.

OVERALL
There is nothing technically wrong with the Joshua Brook Bourbon, but it’s light, ordinary and uninteresting. It tastes exactly what you’d think it would taste like just from looking at it. Actually… I take that back. It tastes better than you’d expect from its unassuming black and white label, plastic bottle and $13 price tag.

When I decided to take the hefty plunge and check out the Joshua Brook Bourbon I was expecting utter swill, but it turned out to be a serviceable bourbon. It’s not complex or interesting enough that I want to drink it neat, but it would work well for mixing and cooking. A perfectly fine, boring, cheap bourbon for your daily needs.

SCORE: 79/100 (C+)
