Introducing Turnstile Records’ Martha Ffion and Stream ‘Wallflower’

Posted on the 30 January 2016 by Spectralnights

Martha Ffion Wallflower Glasgow singer

Signed to Turnstile, highly acclaimed by our friends over at For the Rabbits and compared to both Sharon Van Etten and Cate Le Bon, Martha Ffion is a singer-songwriter from Glasgow that specialises in Americana-tinged indie-folk. Wrapped in atmospheric guitars, there is talk of heartbreak, frustrations and new starts throughout ‘Wallflower’: ‘I know that you need the time off to recover, somehow we’ve made a prison for each other. I even hate the way you go to clean your throat’.

A very classical sound, the guitars are doused in effects as the song enters its final throes and there’s a real sense of hopefulness as Martha asks the song’s subject to ‘Come out, come out’ and ponders whether they will be keen to ‘start again’. Personal but also quite secretive, this is a song that hints at some incredible things to come from Martha Ffion.
