Interview Update

By Rubytuesday
I'm just back from my interviewAs I said in previous postsIt's a two year courseBusiness and computersSpecifically for adults who want to go back to learning It's ideal for meI've been out of education for a long timeSo it's a nice way to ease back in to it
I woke up at 5amI knew I would sleep anymoreSo I got up And sat with the dogs for a while Watched some tvAnd dozed on the couchThe interview was on my mind all morningI knew it would be more of a chat than a formal interviewBut I still wanted to do as well as I couldThe interview was at 2 15pmSo I got dressed at about one I changed my outfit slightly And added a blue shirt instead of a white t-shirtAs I thought it looked a bit smarter My Dad was hereSo he drove meAnd we set off at about 1 30pm
After a couple of stops We arrived at the school at 2pmMy Dad went and parked And I went straight inI saw a sign telling me where to goI saw some seats and a girl looking very nervousI asked her if I was at the right placeShe said I wasShe seemed super nervousI tried to make small talkBut she wasn't interestedAfter a few minutes a girl came out of the interview roomAnd the girl next to me was called inWhen I get nervous I always have to peeSo I went for a quick oneWhen I got back to my seat I realised I could hear practically every word of the interviewA heard a couple of questions And filed the mentally so I would have the answers if I was asked tooSoon the girl came outShe wished me good luckWhich was nice of her
Then the door opened againAnd it was my turnMy heart gave a flutter of anxietyAnd I walked in to the roomThere were two women thereThey told me their names and who they wereBut for the life of me I can't remember I sat down And the interview began They asked me where I'd heard about the courseWhat interest did I have in the subjectsWhat exams I hadThey saw from my application that I was on disability benefitAnd explained that I need to write to social welfare to tell them I am doing the courseThey also mentioned the possibility that my payment could be stopped after one yearWhich is worrying And sonething I'll have look into
I've been on disability benefit since I was first admitted to hospital in 2008It's great because they kind of leave you alone And only check up on you every few yearsI was also able to work a few hours over the yearsMao having  the payment cut would cause me a lot of problems
AnywayBack to the interviewThey asked me about previous work Where I had lived Had I done any voluntary workThankfully I remembered that I had When I was an exam scribeThen asked if there was any reason that I wouldn't make it in to the courseI took this as my opportunity to tell them about the fact that I've struggled with eating disordersThey asked how that would manifeste itselfI said it would probably be a mental thing at firstA crisis of confidenceOr experiencing anxietyI did however Emphasise that I am the bed I've been in a long timeAnd hoped to continue that way After a few more questions I couldn't believe I when they said it was lovely to meet meAnd just like thatIt was all overI couldn't believe it I felt like I had just sat down They told me that the offer letters would be posted tomorrowSo I'll be waiting for mine with baited breath
I left the interview feel positive and hopefulThe only stumbling block is the issue of my payment Which more than likely will be stopped if I do this courseI guess I have to weigh up which is more importantI will also speak to my mom who works in adult educationOr used to work should I sayAs she retires this weekI'll find out as much information as I canAnd make a decision the
I feel wrecked tired after the interview thoughI was a bit wound up about it all morningAnd it's just nice to have it over and done withAlsoThank you all for your comments, texts and emails wishing me wellIt really means a lot RightI'm off to have a little napAre you on the next post....
