So you’ve been hearing a lot about how blogs have given new life to websites, eh? You might have also heard that blogs are able to attract new readers and potentially new customers to many a company. But you’ve also come to realize that you’re no Pulitzer prize winning author that can just whip up a few heart blog posts and call it day.

That’s what I’m here to help with! Read on to find a few tips about how you can overcome your fear of writing blog posts on a daily basis. It might be a little difficult at first, but I promise that the new attention your company’s website gets from it will be worth every second of it.

Get Into The Copywriter Habit

First things first. You’re never going to be able to write enough content on your own unless you make it a habit. The kind of habit where it’s just ingrained in your head that you have to, absolutely have to, write a few blog posts every day or else you’ll go crazy. So maybe it’s more of a compulsion than a habit, but nonetheless, writing needs to become part of your daily routine in order to give your website enough content.

Different copywriters have different strategies about how to form the writing habit. Some might tell you there’s a certain number of days you have to do something before it’s considered a psychological habit. Others might tell you to get a buddy to check in on you. But I’m going to tell you that you should just do whatever works. If you have to write every morning before you allow yourself to go to the bathroom, so be it. If you have to put a dollar in a jar every day you don’t write, go for it. But above all, just write.

When you start out writing on a consistent basis, make it as easy as possible on yourself. Don’t try to write for the gold just yet. Just get your thoughts down on paper, try to organize it into a few coherent sentences, and then edit it. If it’s not perfect, try again tomorrow. As long as you keep writing, I promise you’ll get better at it.

Read Other People’s Works

Learn from the masters. Steal from the greats. Whatever you call it, take a few notes from the copywriters out there that are writing quality content on a daily basis. Do regular Google searches to find out who in your industry is keeping up with a blog that people are actually reading. Sign up, subscribe, and never ever feel guilty that you might get an idea or two from their articles.

Reading other blogs and e-newsletters is great for any business owner wondering just how the heck they can continue writing every day without running out of ideas. I’ll let you in on a little secret: there is nothing new under the sun. So when you start reading other blogs that are related to your own, you’ll learn about new ways to approach old ideas. You’ll find out how you can refresh, reuse, and recycle topics that might have already been written about but haven’t been reinvented for your audience. And as long as you have an original spin on your own content, your audience will appreciate it and reward you for it.

Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

You might have heard the old saying, “Write what you know.” That certainly is a comfortable way to keep writing…about boring, tired topics. I guarantee that if you only write about what you already know, you’ll grow bored quickly and lose steam even quicker. Your blog will be empty and desolate, without a reader or a post to its name.

Instead, try writing something you know nothing about. Has a new trend just emerged in your industry? Research the heck out of it and write a blog post on it. Not only will you be glad for a refreshing new subject to write about, but also your readers will be thankful to read it.

Copywriting is an earned skill, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have what it takes to earn it! As a business owner, you’ve already had to wear new hats in order to make your business succeed. So what’s one more hat? Go on, give this copywriting thing a try and watch your online reputation start to grow because of it!
