Holy Toledo Hunger Pang

Thursday! That means tomorrow is Friday. Whoohoo.

This morning I woke up and had crazy hunger pangs. Normally I’m not too hungry in the morning but today I could eat an elephant.

I fried 2 eggs in extra virgin olive oil and had a cute little fuji apple on the side. Ohh and I almost forgot I had a hot mug of magic lemon water.

Before I started trying to get 2 servings of healthy fats a day I never would have thought of frying eggs in evoo. It’s surprisingly delicious! I just season them with salt and pepper and with the evoo the eggs are so flavorful.

Simple yet tasty!

4 days in and I feel pretty darn awesome!

I’ve never approached cutting out refined sugar and simple carbs this way before. I’ve eliminated almost everything except for my Gu Chomps and a healthy carb splurge a day.

What are healthy carbs? Well… complex carbs of course. These are carbohydrates that break down into sugar slower in the blood stream than simple carbs.

Good complex carbs are whole grain breads, veggies, legumes and they have longer strands of sugars in them so they take longer for the body to break down into energy. These don’t spike your blood sugar like simple carbs do.

Simple carbs are things like soda, white bread, crackers, pretzels, cupcakes. They have shorter strands of sugar in them so the body breaks them down fast to get energy. These result in blood sugar spikes.

Along with this new healthy guideline I’ve incorporated a few other healthy guidelines every day. They are:

  • eat 2 servings of healthy fats a day
  • eat 2 servings of probiotics a day
  • eat 2 servings of low sugar fruits a day (this will change after a few weeks and I’ll take the sugar restriction off)
  • drink 3 servings of green tea a day
  • exercise
  • drink 8 8oz glasses of water a day
  • drink 1 glass of hot lemon water every morning

Pretty simple. I use a great little check list app to tally everything up throughout the day.

I’m already cooking and eating so much healthier and I don’t feel deprived at all. I feel awesome.
