Highs Explore Sentimental Nostalgia with ‘I Do, Do You?’ [Stream]

If you ever end up on a winding back road in your hometown, you’d capture the essence of HIGHS “I Do, Do you?”, the second single from their debut album, Dazzle Camouflage. The Toronto-based alt-pop band known for their lively melodies explores coming-of-age on this track. But whether you’re 17 or 57, it doesn’t matter. While the instrumentals lightly meander through a summer fling, the lyrics are grounded in sentimental nostalgia. And though this story is nothing new, HIGHS manages to capture young love intertwined with retrospection, reflection, nostalgia and hope, which is no small feat.

On the surface “I Do, Do You?” chronicles young love, but it’s more than that. It allows you to remember the person you were and reflect on the person you’ve become. And that’s something we’re bound to replay over and over again.
