"hey Baby, Listy Listy No More..."

By Svprili @svprili

We had always wondered why our boat had a port list. We had taken out all the large components - tanks, engine, generator etc. So we were starting to get a little worried. Until...... We discovered a galley cupboard full of what we think is lead. What the hell!! That's some good can storage!! So one by one we removed all the "lead" plates and voila! "listy listy no more!"

Really? You think they could have at least put clean stuff on the boat. We're thinking the generator in the engine room (starboard) put the boat out of wack. Bloody heavy stuff!
So the good 'ole oven got the boot. I swear the thing must be an original that came with the boat in 1981. The previous owner told me the back burner no longer worked and she couldn't remember what each knob was for, the gimbal only half worked and that she only cooked with a crockpot. Hmmm TOSS IT! Would love a Dickinson but can't seem to make the beast fit. The hole fits a Force 10 compact stove perfectly but I'm still trying to talk Carl into gaining me 2" by eating into the cupboard below the cutout. Still a work in progress. There's no way I can cook with a compact size oven. Sailboat ovens as they are now are way too small for standard pans. Here's our hole.   Can't mount the new oven higher than the bench because the upper cabinets will catch on fire and the stove won't gimbal properly. Don't think it would be a huge ordeal to gain 2" below. The upper left cabinet is where we found all that extra lead.... lucky us! Why couldn't it have been gold, or beer?
Me after washing my hands in the bayou. No running water down at the boat so have to do our best.
Bit more grinding to do before we are ready to paint. :) Horray! Need to fit a good size bed, shower, head and basin in this area. It's the "love shack"
Everything is so rough. There are tools everywhere and I'm sick of having to walk in the bilges to get places. I can't wait to see some "pretty" progress. We haven't installed our main hatch yet so the entrance is securely covered with a stylish tarp, anchored with scrap wood.
