Friday night was so much fun. I went out with girlfriends who I've gotten to know a lot better since attending my best friend's wedding here in Georgia a few weeks ago. It was our friend's birthday whose in her mid 30's. To be the 'youngest' of this group at almost 30, is such a rare thing for me. I'm always the "Grandma" of my college besties and high school friends back home. I had such a great time and we always laugh and joke about everything and anything. They are such a great group.
My best friend and I weren't to keen on going home just yet and per usual, we ventured into Barnes and Noble for a night cap ( aka Starbucks ), browsing some of our favorite novels and playing Rushing Roulette with Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean. Have you ever tried it? If you can see from the picture, we each took a turn pulling our a jelly bean and then having to eat whatever flavor we picked. I picked a vomit flavor and Kimberly picked grass. It was awful and I kept gagging. I also had to eat 4 ear wax flavors almost in a row. We were laughing so hard we cried during moments and I'm sure people were wondering what was going on with us! Moments like this make me feel so content with life.
Saturday I woke up early, ran a few errands then took an hour to get ready and head out to a photo shoot with the hysterical and so sweet Tia. Let's be clear, I'm normally not that coordinated in front of a camera, but I try to act as 'cool and calm' as I can be at times. Tia made me feel totally at ease and with 80 degree weather and what felt like 80% humidity, it was great to see some amazing shots she was taking. I'm already anthologizing for the sweaty mess I was changing from outfit to outfit. Stay tuned for that.
After the shoot, I picked up Lily from a friend's house, put her down for a nap and got my baking on for a BBQ we were hoping to attend, but had to miss out because Lily still hadn't kicked her fever and diarrhea from Friday. You guys, have you tried these s'mores bars? I think Janae makes them all the time on her blog so I followed her recipe and couldn't wait to dive in later at the party. Ah-Maz-Ing! I'll post the recipe soon. It was a good hit even if we were the only ones who ate them.
Sunday was low key in the morning. Zach, Lily and I ran some errands, did a few loads of laundry to put our house back together. Zach went over to help a friend put patio together and Lily had a playdate. We came home for a nap ( I started not feeling that well either and loved my 45 minute snooze ) before we ventured out to another party for a friend whose being drafted to Afghanistan later this month. Surprise parties are my favorite, but even more so when it's for someone who appreciates the hard work and effort you put into it. I've only known a few people who have traveled to war so I'm hoping and praying he comes back safe and sound in a few months.
