Happy Skin Zz Cream SPF20 | Natural Coverage Rediscovered

By Blessmybag @blessmybag

I've blogged about Filipino brand Happy Skin's Zz cream about over a year and a half ago in 2014, it was the base I kept reaching for then for several weeks. Then of course an influx of more press samples to try flowed in, and I forgot just how great this light to medium coverage base product was. What I like is that for a MAC NC30 shade girl like me, this tone is spot on. That's the only caveat, it comes in just one arguably medium to fair universal shade. Happy to report that in my case it's a match.

"This non-silicone foundation does not clog pores and is infused with Grapefruit Extract. Rich in antioxidants, grapefruit is touted as the new skin care secret. It effectively prevents skin acne and sebum oxidation, the trigger that starts pimples. It keeps troubled skin soft & supple, too. Wonder food Yoghurt Extract treats and minimizes the growth of acne bumps & plugs, and also serves as a skin brightener helping lighten scars & blemishes. Licorice Stem & Root Extracts act as anti-irritants that help reduce redness & irritation, thanks to their anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties. Salicylic Acid helps exfoliate pores and eliminate the clogging residue that causes breakouts. This contains SPF 20 PA++ and is suitable for all skin types especially blemished skin." - HAPPY SKIN COSMETICS Zz Cream, Php1299.00 purchase here

I like that it's got more cling than slip to it, it takes a bit more working into the skin with fingers, I prefer fingers to a brush for applying this sort of base. The coverage is light to medium with a healthy, not shimmery sort of glow. It reminds me of a more lightweight version of Clinique's Even Better Foundation which I really like. Kind of like the tinted moisturizer version of the Clinique Even Better range.

Just Happy Skin Zz Cream on right, no concealer, no setting powder on the face except for a little sweep under the eyes and a tap of NARS Madly blush on the apples of the cheeks.

Happy Skin supplied me with a new tube of their Zit Zapping Cream Foundation (for acne-prone and sensitive skin) and for the last 3 days I've been really loving it again. I've also observed things I hadn't before. This time I also took photos of how it looks on me at night. Read on to see it all.

Here is my full face on in the daytime, I have on a bit of blush, and areas that are powdered are under my eyes and a tad bid around my nose, the rest of my face has no powder. This product has SPF 20 and I really like the unique, just enough coverage I get from it. In my opinion it's proper coverage for normal to sensitive skin types that have moderate patches of redness.

If you think it looks nice during the daytime it looks even more gorgeous and natural once evening sets in. It's got that fair bit of coverage and sheen that works for both day and evening, February is sneaking up on us. Yes, think date night for Valentine's! Turn down the lights. As you can see here it's just the Zz cream and mascara. I didn't realize it also looked this lovely and flawless at night. Date looks are always best kept fresh and natural, not overdone, unless you're going clubbing.

...and also in non-direct artificial light at night...where at the end of the day I still had it on. Coverage on this is light to medium so if you have pigmentation and acne you will certainly need a separate concealer to cover them up.
