Halloween Party Snack for Kids

Have I ever shared with you that I’m relatively new to my neighborhood? I’ve probably mentioned in the past that I’m a Los Angeleno native, born and raised. Athough I’m still within driving distance from my hometown, I still feel like a Los Angeleno at heart, living in, what I used to call in my youth, “The Burbs”.

Now that my little one has reached the age where she enjoys playing with other kids her age, I joined a local neighborhood mom’s group to socialize with other moms and their kids. I guess in a way this is my way of trying to fully embrace my life in The Burbs, make new friends in a town where I have few friends, and make the most of the town where my husband and I are raising our kids. While I’m new to this group, I’ve already met some very nice moms and Bebe E is enjoying our extra outings.

The other day we attended a neighborhood Halloween party and Bebe E was so excited about dressing up in her little costume and going to the party. I threw together a really quick and easy snack mix using some of Bebe E’s favorite things that I had in our pantry. It’s “chex mix” for 3 -year olds!

I added pretzel and cheese goldfish, organic fruit gummies (my daughter’s favorite snack), and mini yogurt chips. Unfortunately, given our crazy schedule that day, I didn’t get a chance to run out to the market, otherwise I would have also included mini oreos (yet another Bebe E favorite), chocolate s’more goldfish and mini marshmallows. :) I might have even considered adding some roasted pumpkin seeds (follow link for recipe) to this mix if I had some on hand. What would you add to yours or your child’s favorite snack mix?

While I was trying to take photos of the snack mix, Bebe E was trying to find out what goodies I had placed in our Jack-O-Lantern. Every Halloween I buy a few of Nene and my husband’s favorite candies and keep them in our plastic orange pumpkin as treats to snack on. Although Bebe E knows that she can’t eat candy, she likes to pull them out and give them to us as our “trick-or-treat”. As always, when I’m taking photos, she is right at my side, ready to “assist”.

Halloween Party Snack for Kids

We’re really trying to make the most of this Halloween season because Bebe E is at the perfect age where she enjoys each seasonal holiday (Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc) – crafts, food, parties, dressing up, treats – AND, it’s one of my favorite holidays. We have two Halloween celebrations planned this weekend and last weekend we went to a Pumpkin Harvest Festival (I’ll share more in the future), so Bebe E is in full holiday celebration mode. Next week she has a costume party at her nursery school and trick-or-treat plans so you can imagine how excited she is about all of the festivities. I admit I’m having a lot of fun too. My husband likes to say that Bebe E is exactly like her mother. :)

I hope you’re enjoying this Halloween season as much as we are!
