I always enjoy when bands perform at Webster Hall, and their fans jump so vehemently that the floor shakes — certainly the scenario last week during incredibly buoyant sets from Reptar and Grouplove.
Reptar (@reptarathens) opened the show with new songs off their latest release Body Faucet. Given their upbeat rhythms, unique vocals, and use of almost tribal-sounding percussion, I couldn’t help but draw similarities to the sound that made Foster the People famous.
Grouplove (@grouplove) came onto the stage with their signature happy, free-love vibes and opened the set with “Lovely Cup”. During their first few songs, the place was absolutely vibrating, as fans 16 and up were jumping and shaking to the music. Although things seemed to cool down a bit, the energy picked back up with the introduction of a compelling light show that surrounded the stage and microphones, flashing with each beat of the drums. Overall, the concert was incredibly positive and upbeat, proving that music should be about feeling happy and simply enjoying life with the people you love!
