Green Vitality Smoothie

By Melissak

Everywhere you look you see people talking about drinking lemon water.  I can see why with its none cleansing and vitality effects on the body, its a morning ritual everyone should follow.  This smoothie is based on the lemon water idea, but just with added nutrients, like the lemon peel.    The beautiful yellow lemon peel is often discarded without a second thought, but did you know lemons peels contain more vitamins than lemon juice?  Yes, this little gem that gets used in numerous recipes, is actually really good for you.   The lemon peel is filled with fibre, magnesium, potassium,  calcium, folate and beta-carotene.  This is great way to cleanse and detox your body.

This smoothie gets its vibrant green color from swiss chard.  This little powerhouse is filled with vitamin K,A and C, as well as a good source of magnesium, iron, potassium and fiber.

I drank this smoothie in the morning right after a workout and felt energized the whole day, my skin felt like it was glowing and I woke up the next morning feeling completely refreshed and wonderful.  This is a morning smoothie that should be in everyone’s morning routine.
