Go For Broke

The story of Nourin is one of a group of students in an agricultural school. We follow their daily lives through times of fun and struggles, with more fun than struggles. But one day, a girl who looks strangely like Kousaku’s favorite idol is transferring in.

From there on Nourin becomes even more interesting. If you want an actual summary it basically is a mix between Silver Spoon and AKB0048, it’s that crazy.

Yet, I was a bit disappointed. I don’t really know what happened, I was totally hyped up by the first episode, and suddenly the enthusiasm dropped as quickly as it started. I guess I expected a little more. Like in Silver Spoon, Ringo the former idol is thrown into a world where she doesn’t belong, a world she totally doesn’t know, yet she didn’t feel as involved as she could have been; For the most part of the anime it felt like she wasn’t really there, like she was somehow an angel floating over the world. I think that this is one of my main complaints about the story. If the central character isn’t really there, I fail to see how she can shoulder the story. The second complaint I have about Nourin is that there wasn’t any story. It was a succession of short stories. I know it is usually what happens in comedies, but in Nourin I think it kinda defeated the whole point. Or it was because it wasn’t as funny as it could have been. Guess I wanted to have something more to look forward to in this anime. But there wasn’t and thus was disappointed. I was also a bit disappointed by the characters, Kinoshita Ringo, the main girl, the idol who comes into an agricultural school was completely bland. It was hard to believe she was both an idol and had the courae to quit her previous life. She was voiced by Tamura Yukari and, while I can usually tolerate her, somehow her voice was grating on my nerves in Nourin. Our second main character was the boy named Hata Kousaku, the ultimate fanboy. He had a little more personality than Ringo but it is still wasn’t much. Asanuma Shintarou was voicing him and, again, it is someone I usually like but somehow couldn’t stand in Nourin. I don’t know what happened but, to honest, most of the cast of Nourin was getting on my nerves. Even Kanazawa Hana. Even Kisho Taniyama. I don’t really know why I watched Nourin until the end, to be completely honest it was a waste of time. You shouldn’t really watch Nourin. The following two tabs change content below.
