A bit late but Happy Easter everyone! I don’t bring chocolate but I have something just as good! Maybe.

The anime Kyousogiga, also known as Capital Craze is exactly what the title might make you think. In the mirror city of Kyoto, young people live their lives and try to get used to the newcomer Koto.

That young newcomer wields the power of destroying anything forever with her hammer and, with her arrival, the calm life everyone was leading is coming to an end.

Kyousogiga is something that has come along laboriously. I honestly do not even remember what the very first OVAs were about, just that I did not get a thing and that I quite liked the universe.

Because the universe of Kyousogiga is a very colorful one.

To be honest, after waiting for a proper anime for so long, the excitement was a bit lost. And, more importantly, the things that I had been waiting for for so long, lost a bit of their appeal.

You see, I wanted to know about all the secrets behind the mirror capital back in the days, 2 or 3 years later; well, I have forgotten most of the secrets in the first place.

That is my main complaint about this anime.

Other than that, well, we finally did get answers! That alone is worth a little dance of joy. I am still not sure whether or not I am actually satisfied with said answers but at least we got them.

Overall I think I liked the plot of this anime. I liked having explanations about the past of the Council of the Three, about Koto, about how the city came to life and such.

But on the other hand it was done forgetting a bit about the people who lived in. They were there, just, they stayed in the background. The anime focused so much on the past and on the main family that it forgot that other people lived there too. Only Myoue’s girlfriend got a bit more screen time but probably only because she interacted with him.

That was the second saddest thing about this anime. What I loved about Kyousogiga was the very peculiar city and how it lived, how it was administered and how it reacted to a thing like Koto.

The anime forgot that a bit too much.

The characters were pretty nice. Koto was an annoying little girl at first but she grew on me. In the end I thought she was pretty cute, I even liked her.

Myoue was my favorite though, the second Myoue, actually. He was interesting and nice, he was a nice big brother figure while also managing to be relatively sexy. Definitely a good character according to my standards.

As for the others, well, the first Myoue was among the most interesting, not exactly my favorite because I did not completely get him and also thought he was nuts at times but definitely interesting. All the characters were, most just lacked a bit of development.

Koto was voice by Rie Kugimiya. I don’t dislike her, I just find her voice to always sound the same, it gets a bit boring, especially since Koto talks waaayyyy too much. Thankfully, I got Kenichi Suzumura as Myoue and he was quite a talkative character as well. I like him, he grows on me every time I hear him somewhere. Last but not least, I couldn’t stop without mentioning Akira Ishida as the always ambiguous character Inari, which turns out to be as suspicious as I thought he was. Ishida really does suspicious very well.

Kyousogiga was entertaining and interesting, not my favorite anime ever and I would recommend watching the OVAs first and then the anime straight after, else it loses a bit of its charm.
