Now this is a surprise remix; Toronto jazz fusion trio BBND take on Future Islands’ seminal synth-pop anthem “Seasons (Waiting On You)” – one of the defining singles of 2014 – and rebuilds it with smooth and soulful instrumentation reminiscent of 70’s Bill Withers or something from an old Blaxploitation soundtrack. Either way, the result is absolutely sublime and BBND continues to impress me, as they have all year.
