FOX Renews Four, Cancels ‘Hope’

FOX has issued renewals for four shows. Brooklyn Nine-Nine became the third Freshman show this year to get a pickup for next season (the first being Sleepy Hollow, the second is Masterchef Jr). This pickup was a no brainer as the show landed Andy Samberg a Golden Globe, and is definitely a “buzzy” show.

Another no brainer was the pick up of The New Girl, which will head into its fourth season. It is a FOX staple at this point. The Mindy Project is becoming a FOX staple, as it just landed a third season pick-up. The last pickup was for The Following, which will also head into its third season.

Not coming back is ‘Raising Hope’ which was axed by FOX after 4 seasons. The final episode of Hope will air in April.

Of the shows still up in the air, FOX is expected to renew Family Guy and American Idol. Almost Human, Enlisted, and Rake are not expected to return, and Glee was already renewed in a multi-season deal last year. Bones was renewed earlier this year.

Despite being critically panned, the word on the street is that FOX is still leaning toward renewal for Dads, but it will ultimately come down to the strength of their pilots. Remember, FOX cancelled X-Factor, which frees up a few hours for them in the fall. Even a half-pickup of 13 episodes or so of Dads wouldn’t be completely unexpected.
