Food Presentation, Rustic Style

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

I recently went to a restaurant in my neighborhood where they served my sandwich in a rustic way. They served it on a small cutting board with a sheet of wax paper cut to fit the board. I thought this was fabulous! I never would have thought of doing that myself. It got me to wonder if there are other ways to use a cutting board as a serving platter or place setting. We can place a piece of parchment paper or a paper towel below the food if we don’t want direct contact with the board.  An advantage of using boards is that there are less dishes to wash, as cleaning a board just requires wiping it with a damp cloth. Cutting boards can be found in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. It is said that we eat with our eyes first, so why not present our food in an unusual and fun way?

Here’s some delicious ways that a cutting board can be used.

One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. Luciano Pavarotti

What do you think? Does this form of rustic presentation appeal to you as much as it does to me? I just love the character that this alternative type of place setting gives to the table and the food.
