Fontaines D.C. follow up the blisteringly intense ‘A Hero’s Death’ with new single ‘Televised Mind’ ahead of the release of their new album, also called ‘A Hero’s Death, on 31 July.

The new song’s video is directed by Hugh Mulhern and finds the band tackling the concept of the echo chamber and ‘how personality gets tripped away by surrounding approval’. Opening with a scuzzy bass line and fevered drums, Grian Chatten opens the song by repeating the title in almost hypnotic fashion as the band veer into ever-more angular and psychedelic territory that captures the anxiety, frustration and inaction in the lyrics: ‘All your laughter pissed away. All your sadness pissed away. Now you don’t care what they say Nor do I.’; ‘They’re all gulls in the sky. They all mimic love’s cry. And I wish I could die. Me or them.’
