The elevated U1 subway line became famous through the 1980s musical "Linie 1" by the Grips-Theater. For a long time the train only ran in West Berlin. Now it connects West Berlin's Charlottenburg and Kreuzberg with East Berlin's Friedrichshain via the beautiful Oberbaumbruecke over the Spree River.
