First Impressions: Psycho Pass 2

How not to fall for this kind of eyes? What can I say about Psycho Pass 2? It’s a sequel to season one, obviously. Tsunemori Akane is the heroine, obviously. Her and her team, along with a newbie inspector, are still fighting crime with the help of the all-mighty computer Sybil.

Pretty much the same as in season one, more or less.

There hasn’t been a lot of plot introduced in this episode and I don’t know if I’m happy about it or not.

On the other hand, this episode was perfect for people who never saw the first series. The details aren’t as well-explained as they were during the first season but they were explained through action and I think I like this more.

I’m a bit stuck on what to say about this episode though. Because, as I said, it consisted almost entirely on Akane and the other inspectors and enforcers trying to arrest a serial bomber. I liked the fact that Akane gained confidence and really started leading her team seriously since last season but that’s pretty much the only thing that stood out for me.

I’m really sad about the part where plot is only suggested. It makes it seem like the whole episode was useless. It probably wasn’t, especially for people who never saw season one, but it sure felt like it for me.

I’m a bit mean though. At least plot was suggested. We saw a glimpse of someone who is apparently a villain and I think there is going to be a huge part of the plot focusing on the relationship between Akane and her newbie inspector.

Talking about Akane and her newbie inspector, they’re the only ones who got some character development in this episode. It isn’t bad, I’d rather have them focus on a few characters and do it well than trying to introduce everyone and fail miserably. I still would have liked to know a bit more about the two new enforcers but I guess it will come one day or another.

I think I really like the newbie inspector, and I like her relationship with Akane. I think that, where season one was about the rivalry between two men, season two will be about the rivalry between these two women.

I’m kinda hyped up more about that than I am about anything else in this anime.

Can I also say how awesome Hana Kanazawa is in this anime? Because she is. I really like that voice of hers.

In the end, this episode could have been better but it was good enough to warrant watching the second, and even the third, what I like more than anything in Psycho Pass is world building anyway.
