Sean Moeller 550x517 #FF @REALDAYTROTTER

#FF is a weekly series of posts from The Wild Honey Pie where we suggest one music-related person for you to follow on Twitter and tell you why they’re so great.

If you want to get the music lover in your life a truly special gift this holiday season, you can’t go wrong with a yearly subscription to Daytrotter. The membership is reasonably priced at $2 a month and gives you access to all of the kickass Daytrotter sessions and streams plus Barnstormer concert videos. Totally worth it. Of course, another way to get your Daytrotter fix (and for no money at all) is to follow founder Sean Moeller (@realdaytrotter) on Twitter.

While the site does have an official handle (@daytrotter), Moeller’s personal account gives us a little glimpse into the process of running such a unique site. He generally tweets about what bands he and the rest of the Daytrotter crew have just finished working with or which sessions he is currently writing about (and usually what he’s eating/drinking at the same time). It’s a built-in teaser for all the sessions that are soon to be released. Moeller also takes the time to remind us of stellar sessions already in the Daytrotter archives that we should dust off and give a second listen.

Additionally, Moeller is super approachable and casual on his stream. He replies to fans, engages in conversations and often tweets about the everyday. It’s the perfect example of a personal account that injects promotion in an unobtrusive and enjoyable way.

“I mean Jon Spencer is a total fucking bad ass, right? The session that he and the Blues Explosion taped with us is high entertainment!!”

“writing about Title Fight; daydreaming about dinner; it’s a problem when I’m still a ways from eating one.”

“writing about Andrew Jackson Jihad; just booked a session with Alabama Shakes”

“just send Lydia Loveless and gang on their ways after the taping; they’re headed home to Ohio; if you see that red van on the highway say hi”
