Fairfax Fashion Fix: Mosaic District

By Verybusymama @verybusymama
"Want to go to a fashion event in Fairfax?"
"Really?! Where in Fairfax?"
"Mosaic District"
Long pause
"Sure. But I'm from the 'burbs and I have NO idea where that is."
That's pretty much how a conversation went with my colleague Vanessa earlier this week who was going to cover an event for DC Event Junkie. We did eventually end up heading out into suburbia for what I like to call a Fairfax Fashion Fix for Mosaic Fashion Night as part of their official opening.
The shopping district is so new that even Alistair, my trusted GPS (that's what I named him - he's British after all) didn't know where we were going.

We did eventually make it and we quickly headed into the VIP event being held at the Angelika Film Center and Cafe.
After enjoying a drink, we popped over to South Moon Under where the party was really taking place complete with a DJ, drinks, prizes, 20% off shopping and a book signing with Cupcakes and Cashmere author Emily Shuman.

I browsed all the lovely pieces and was absolutely loving the gold and silver sequins! I was even happier to meet up with blogger friends and enjoy a much needed night out. All of the stores were open for shopping, but we had to call it a night.
As a parent and very busy mamá, I can guarantee this will fast become a mommy favorite not only for shopping, but for that much needed coffee break with friends, taking part in pre and post natal fitness classes Stroller Strides (LOVE this by the way), letting the kids run wild at Strawberry Park and enjoying weekly events specifically organized with the little ones in mind.
Fairfax (and the suburbs in general) is certainly looking up in the fashion arena and it's great to see outdoor shopping and event areas popping up that aren't malls. Because, those are so 1990's.
Mosaic District offers something for the entire family - make sure to check out their entire list of shops, restaurants and events.
