@Deutsches Museum, Munich, Germany

December 2014

The Deutsches Museum in Munich is one of the great technology museums of the world, and I was fortunate to visit the facility during a recent vacation.  Bölkow, Heinkel and Messerschmitt formed a joint venture, named EWR, to develop this experimental German jet fighter VTOL tiltjet aircraft.  It was to be the basis for a successor to the Lockheed F-104G Starfighter, but was cancelled in 1968 after a five-year test program, during which two prototype aircraft were built.  The first prototype achieved supersonic flight without afterburners in 1964.  Nikon D7000 w/18-200mm, processed with Photomatix Pro and Aperture.
