Seven-time Academy Award winner Gary Rydstrom is directing the film from a screenplay penned by David Berenbaum (“Elf”), Irene Mecchi (“Brave,” “The Lion King”) and Rydstrom.

Several Broadway stars, including Kristin Chenoweth, are among the voice cast, which also includes Evan Rachel Wood, Alan Cumming, Maya Rudolph, Sam Palladio, Alfred Molina, Elijah Kelley, Bob Einstein, Peter Stormare and newcomer Meredith Anne Bull.

Music producer Marius de Vries (“Moulin Rouge”) serves as musical director and composer.

The film is due out Jan. 23, 2015.
