Diet Cig Share Birthday Wishes with ‘Barf Day’ [Stream]

“I just want to have ice cream on my birthday / blow the candles out and wish all of my pain away,” sings Diet Cig’s Alex Luciano on “Barf Day,” the new single from their upcoming album Swear I’m Good At This. The New Paltz duo, made up of vocalist/guitarist Luciano and drummer Noah Bowman, may often be characterized as twee-pop, but this new track reveals some of the depths behind their songwriting and their remarkable strength as a two-piece. The song begins with quiet admissions of dissatisfaction before quickly building up into an anthemic declaration brimming with desire for a change — it’s more than just a birthday wish, and Diet Cig won’t hesitate to make it known.
