The Voice

Usher's foot in position...check.  Adam's hair in place...check.  Contestants sob stories...check Judges outfits...same as last week. Favorite battle of the night, Luke and Monique's performance of  Gaga's "You and I" Luke's hair annoyed me and his manscaped eyebrows freaked me out a bit, but he blew the roof off the place. Shakira's Tabasco example had me a little confused, but she sounds so good when she says anything that I didn't even try to figure it out. I hate to do this, but I need to complain just a bit. There were only 6 battles in two hours. Each battle is just 2-3 minutes. The editing is just ridiculous. They keep showing the same footage 3 different times. It's annoying guys.  It really is. I know it's all NBC's got, so they need to streeeeetch it out, but you're pissing me off.  The good news is that because of the long drawn out stuff...I was able to watch Rules of Engagement and Blue on the Wigs YouTube channel all during The Voice footage I don't care about it, so yeah me! I still LOVE the show, don't get me wrong but c'mon guys. My times valuable!

Rules of Engagement

Adam was convinced that Jeff, Russell and Timmy were throwing him a surprise bachelor party, but of course they weren't planning anything....they're idiots.  When Jen found out they had nothing planned, she made them take Adam to Vegas. For some reason, the guys decided to take the subway to the airport which made no sense. The train got stuck, Adam found out the guys were d*cks and didn't have anything planned which of course hurt his feelings. After pouring his heart out to a homeless guy named Spencer, the guys who couldn't plan a normal party, were able to pull off a last minute, pretty awesome party on a stuck subway.  It included alcohol, food, music, and dancing...I guess it is possible now that I think about it a bit.  Of course Adam got loaded and had the best time ever.  Back at the apartment, Jen volunteered to paint a mural on the never arriving babies wall. Apparently the giraffe she painted looked like a giant wiener and the Monkey with his banana's and coconuts looked like what we'd all imagine. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see her masterpiece until the end and then...all the "fun"parts were covered by photos. Cute episode and I'm still hoping the baby and the wedding never happen...it would be awesome if it ended without either.

Vikings

Everyone...Ragnar, his wife, his kids, his entire village and even his slave/priest all headed to Upsala, a place close to the gods where sacrifices are made in return for prayers answered. Prior to the sacrifice rituals, everyone celebrated by, getting wasted, doing mushrooms and having sex. Donal Logue was there as the executioner.  He killed all the animals and humans who were offered up to the gods. The cute slave/priest was supposed to be sacrificed, but when he went to the one eyed freaky guys for his presacrifice interview, they turned him away. They didn't believe he had completely given up his Christianity.  Ironically, even Ragnar realized that the priests Christian god saved his ass from death via the Viking gods.  The sacrifices were extremely bloody and a little too drawn out if you ask me.  The music played during the sacrifice scenes was really eerie and creepy, perfect bloody, sacrifice tunes. Next week is the finale already.  Bummed, I love this show.
Just checking...did anyone watch the new Sundance original, Rectify? It was 2 hours last night and I still haven't gotten through all of Game of Thrones, so I didn't get to it, but the reviews are all over the place...let me know if you did. It will help me decide what to do. Thanks
News & Information:

-Who's more likely to subscribe to a streaming video service? According to Nielsen, here are some of the facts:

  • Wealthy households (income of $100,000+) are 85% more likely to pay for a streaming service such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime Instant, or Vudu than the general population.
  • Among SVOD households, $100k+ households accounted for 37%, $50-100k households accounted for 43%, and households with incomes less than $50 accounted for 20%.
  • Of the SVOD households, 63% do not have kids.
  • 49% live in the eastern US time zone, 26% live in the central time zone and another 26% in the pacific.
  • 29% own tablets.
  • 42% are considered "professional" households; 14% "clerical"; 17% "blue collar"; and 28% "non-working" (which probably means college kids).
-The top five websites during March 2013 in terms of unique visitors, according to Kantar Media: Google.com (172.73 million); Facebook.com (164.81 million); Yahoo.com (164.41 million), YouTube.com (163.34 million), and Bing.com (156.3 million). That's the same order as the February 2013 rankings.

-Syfy's Haunted Highway has been renewed for a second season.
-Comedy Central cancelled Futurama which I didn't even know was still on.
-The second season of Revenge hasn't exactly been consistent. Ratings are down a bit, and the storyline has been all over the place, so it didn't come as much of a shock to me that the showrunner and ABC parted ways. ABC also hasn't announced Revenge's renewal either. Uh Oh...
-Amazon Prime saw a huge bump in traffic since releasing its Amazon Originals. I haven't gotten to check them all out yet, but it's on my list of things to do and view. The cool thing is, the viewers will determine which shows will get greenlit. I keep saying that this is the way of the future. Viewers will be their own programmers and the creators programmers! Makes sense doesn't it?
-Mario Lopez will be back as the host of X Factor this coming season, but Khloe's out. No big shock and no major loss. Mario was pretty good on his own and he's hot. He'll do just fin.
-On Friday, Netflix released its next exclusive series...the 13 episode Hemlock Grove horror series. Totally not my thing as I hate horror and all scary stuff, but we know that most of the public loves it, so no surprise at all when Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings revealed that Hemlock Grove was seen by more subscribers in the first few days than House of Cards when it was released in February. Of course no real numbers have been released on either, but interesting nonetheless.  Some more Netflix facts:
  • Netflix generated more than $1 billion in revenue in first quarter of 2013,
  • Netflix posted $2.7 million earnings,
  • Netflix added more than 3 million new subscribers worldwide in the same quarter it launched its the original series "House of Cards."
  • The current Netflix US subscriber base is 29.17 million
  • HBO's current US subscriber base is 28.7 million.
