Story: Deliver Us starts when Sister Yulia (Ratti) discovers she is pregnant and claims it is an immaculate conception. She lives in a remote convent and the Vatican has taken a keen interest in the case. Father Fox (Kunz) is set by the Vatican to investigate the case, which sees him teaming up with Cardinal Russo (Siddig).

However, once the Cardinal tells him of a prophecy, of an immaculate conception of twins everything changes. The belief is one child would be good and the other would be evil. However, Father Fox doesn’t believe in the prophecy and the birth of the potential anti-Christ.

Verdict on Deliver Us

Deliver Us is a horror mystery following a priest who must investigate an immaculate conception. However, the Vatican believes it is connected to a prophecy which would bring about the anti-Christ. Meanwhile, he must decide what to do and what to believe.

This is a horror that thrives in the religious battles with good and evil. It shows how prophecy can draw people to the extreme of their belief when not everything is making as much sense. While there is an amazing amount of tension created throughout the movie. However, it can draw things out more than it needs to. There is plenty to examine within the story and a lot like ‘Knock at the Cabin’ leaves you question what is real or not.

Where to Watch

DELIVER US is available on digital platforms including Google, Apple TV, Sky and Amazon from 19 February.

Final ThoughtsDeliver Us is filled with tension and a massive religious debate.
