David Nicholson Bonded Review

David Nicholson Bonded is no longer available as a brand, but back in the 00’s, where the bottle this sample came from, it was the David Nicholson 1843 and carried the Bottled-In-Bond note on its label. The brand got an overhaul at some point in the not-too-distant past and the BiB designation was dropped, but they kept the 50% ABV.

That’s about all I have on that one so on to the David Nicholson Bonded Review!

David Nicholson Bonded Review

EYE
Amber

NOSE
Sweet and herbaceous oak: Caramel, oak, piney herbal nature and bits of grain, vanilla, nutmeg and citrus.

PALATE
Spicy and oaky peanut butter: Cinnamon heavy spice, oak, peanut butter, toffee and bits of grits, piney herbal and vanilla.

FINISH
Long oaky fade of spice, dark sweets, grain and blanketed with an herbaceous nature.

BALANCE, BODY & FEEL
Decent balance, medium body and a bit aggressive in the delivery but still enjoyable.

OVERALL
David Nicholson Bonded has this crazy pine heavy herbaceous nature that blankets the dram and acts as the connecting thread through it all. Adding some water, just to see, unlocks a light bit of orchard fruit and pie crust.

The complete picture of David Nicholson Bonded isn’t as exciting as the David Nicholson 1843, but it’s still fun and interesting and something I’d happily sip on now and then but it’s missing that enigmatic depth I’m always looking for. Take that for what it is though because the bonded is no longer available.

SCORE: 86/100 (B)
