Dashi is a Japanese broth or stock that is used as the base for several soups and other dishes. There are different types of dashi that you can make, and it depends on which type of powder you buy.

Dashi is most commonly used to add an authentic taste to dishes like Miso soup, shrimp tempura, chicken and egg rice bowls, and many more.

What is Dashi Powder/Granules?

Dashi powder and granules make it easy to prepare dashi instantly. Much like chicken stock cubes, you add the powder or granules to water.

You can find packets at any Asian or Japanese grocery store close to you. If you do not have access to one of these stores, you will be able to buy the packets online.

In addition to mixing dashi powder with water, you can also add it to soup or other dishes that you have already prepared.
