CSI: NY 8x10: Clean Sweep

Original Air Date: 6 January 2012

StorylineA charred body turns into a hot mess for the CSIs when it appears that a cage fighter has been murdered by his stalker. Meanwhile, Mac is followed around by a beautiful reporter in search of a story.Review: For a while during this week's CSI: NY episode, I felt like I was actually watching Bones. I kept waiting for Brennan to pop in and that was mostly due to the fact that the victim had been burned down and it was almost impossible to determine the cause of death. Cool, but also uncanny.

The whole case felt over the top. It was a murder, but then it wasn't; the guy faked his own death to get rid of a stalker who turned out to be his high-school buddy, whom he'd injured to the point where professional fighting was no longer possible. Ryan Richards was a goody-two-shoes who volunteered at the soup kitchen and helped the homeless, but he cheated in the ring. His opponent's name was Petrov despite him clearly having a Latin descent. And Marty's arc was just added in there without any real need or logic. I'm not really sure why I keep watching this show, since it's so low on the crime procedurals totem pole and it rarely delivers anything interesting anymore. I can understand that imagination wears down with time, but there are so many real life crimes that it's easy to find inspiration.
Oh wait, I actually know why I keep watching, and his name is Don Flack. He wasn't as present as I'd have liked, but his blue eyes always get me in a good mood. Saying he's my favorite character of the show is just an understatement.
Lately I've started to really dislike Mac, on the other hand. I remember choosing NY out of all the CSI shows mainly because of Gary Sinise, but he's such a snooze lately and his values are so far off from mine that he just went so much down on my list that only Jo is worse. And there's nothing worse than Jo Danville. Giving him yet another romantic interest in yet another annoying woman doesn't make me like him more.
As you can see, I'm not very fond of "Clean Sweep". I found it completely unrealistic and the lab work was almost lacking, so there wasn't really anything for me to enjoy. This year didn't begin too well for this show.CSI: NY 8x09: Means to an End Back to Season 8
