This random journey of a coconut named Joe, all started at Eat Drink Blog 4, a national food blogger conference where I was given a coconut to take home from Perth City Farm after a few drinks 
If you were following my #CoconutJoeEDB13 tweets a couple of weekends ago, you would have seen this coconut make it’s way around Perth on a bar crawl with a bunch of us food bloggers starting with cocktails at The Classroom, snacks & drinks at The Queens, cider at Clarences, gin at Five Bar and he nearly made it into the Mechanics Institute but had a tragic fall on the steps.
At Eat Drink Blog 4, full-time food blogger Amateur Gourmet told us that his most popular blog post was not what he expected, it was a quick random recipe post he wrote titled “The Best Broccoli of Your Life” – hopefully my Coconut Joe Perth bar crawl story will have the same effect
So it all started at Perth City Farm, host of our Eat Drink Blog 4 conference and dinner on the Saturday night. At the end of the night during clean up, I was given a Jax Coconut by @Scheveethott. Whilst chatting to Sydney food blogger Simon Food Favourites, it was apparent I had no idea how to open a coconut nor did I have the necessary tools. So it was decided there and then that Perth gluten free food blogger Chomp Chomp and I would take this coconut with us to our Eat Drink Blog Cocktail Master Class at The Classroom the following day.
Before going home though Coconut Joe waited patiently in the car as we had cocktails at Must Wine Bar…
Then a special gin & tonic with grapefruit at Enrique’s…
Coconut Joe slept in my car and even got to know Sydney blogger Flick Your Food as we made our way to The Classroom the following day…
At our Eat Drink Blog Cocktail Master Class, Coconut Joe was acknowledged by The Classroom co-owner and cocktail extraordinaire Andrew Bennett (cocktail master class post & interview with Andrew coming soon)…
Coconut Joe then headed to The Queens for a snack and cider…
After a few drinks at The Queens, Coconut Joe rolled out to the bus stop with Chomp Chomp…
The bus took Coconut Joe to Clarences where he enjoyed a few beers & ciders…
Coconut Joe got into a fist fight with blogger Abstract Gourmet at Clarences…
But happily posed for Simon Park, photographer and blogger of The Heart of Food who spoke about Food and Photography at Eat Drink Blog 4. Coconut Joe may have got a bit happy from the gin cocktail too…
Coconut Joe nearly got thrown by blogger behind Pub Diaries and freelance journo Max Brearley at Five Bar…
Coconut Joe even had a drink with the Beaufort Realty crew at Five Bar before heading back to Clarences for dinner and more drinks…
Enroute to Mechanics Institute, Chomp Chomp’s husband Norm dropped Coconut Joe, luckily it wasn’t fatal.
Unfortunately Coconut Joe didn’t make it any further than Mechanics Institute’s steps where he fell out of my hands and landed on the feet of the Mechanics security guard (oops & sorry if you’re reading this blog post!).
