Clinton Street Baking Company

By Boberika @boberika

The Clinton Street Baking Company is owned by husband & wife team, Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman and has been open since April 2001. It was the perfect place to have a hearty brunch after a big night out.

I was very lucky to meet up with Michelle Kleinberg the night before and she kindly booked us in. I recommend booking before going here as upon arrival there was a line up. When you see a line up on a Wednesday morning, you just know a place has got to be good, especially in a city obsessed with brunch. It's a small eatery on Manhattan's trendy Lower East Side which also has a wide selection of fresh-baked goods to takeaway.

The perfect start to my last full day in NYC and what better way to start it than with a southern fried breakfast. I was excited to try this as I've never had cheesy grits, sugar cured bacon or fried green tomatoes (I'm now totally converted). Next up were the light-as-air blueberry pancakes with maple butter and if that wasn't enough to kick off my day and fend off my hangover, we met Alex Kleinberg, Michelle's brother. He was great to talk to and upon leaving gave us some delicious baked goods to try.

What an amazing family! Thanks Alex and if you're ever in London I'll gladly return the favour and introduce you to some delicious baked treats on this side of the pond (Biba take note!).
