Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young- Our House
For a song that seems so perfect and so engrained in our collective consciousness, to hear that it was written in one hour describing the morning that Graham Nash and Joni Mitchell had just spent, sums up the very nature of genius.
Nash’s much talked about affair with Mitchell and everything surrounding it was described by himself as “disappearing” once you were inside the picturesque domestic bubble that they’d carefully cultivated. That’s what most strive for in a relationship these days, a shelter from the stresses of life and damn, if everything about this song doesn’t sum that up.
Seeing this song performed live by CS&N in 2010 may well have been the pinnacle of my gig going experiences.
