Cinco De Mayo = Margarita Time

Posted on the 11 May 2014 by Cheekymeeky

wkendcooking Weekend cooking is a meme hosted by Beth Fish Reads. It is open to anyone who has any kind of food-related post to share: Book (novel, nonfiction) reviews, cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, fabulous quotations, photographs.

If your post is even vaguely foodie, feel free to grab the button and link up anytime over the weekend. Please link to your specific post, not your blog’s home page. For more information, see the welcome post.

Last year I got introduced to the pleasures of a good Margarita during my business trip to United States when I sampled them at a number of Mexican restaurants.

As a souvenir of sorts, I picked up a massive bottle of Jose Cuervo pre-mixed Margarita from BevMo that I guzzled up within a couple of weeks.

After that, I decided to learn to mix Margaritas on my own, and I found a great recipe on the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), when my inbox got flooded with cool Mexican recipes including this awesome one for Margaritas.

I am trying this out this weekend, hopefully my efforts come out looking this pretty :) .

Spicy Margarita Print

Recipe type: Cocktails Cuisine: Mexican Prep time: 10 mins Total time: 10 mins Serves: 1 Ingredients
  • 2 oz. Blanco Tequila
  • 1 oz. Cointreau (that's triple sec)
  • ¾ oz. lime juice
  • 2 slices jalapeno (remove the seeds and slice into wheels)
  • Cilantro (just a pinch)
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Shake and strain into an iced rocks glass.
  3. Garnish with cilantro and jalapeno spiral.
  4. For Salting the Rim:
  5. Pour Kosher salt into a dish.
  6. Slice a wheel off of an orange.
  7. Rub the rind along the edge of the glass (this helps the salt stick to the glass).
  8. Roll the glass in the salt.
