Manchester-via-Gloucester singer-songwriter Chloe Foy has shared her powerful and emotional new single, ‘Left Centred Weight’, ahead of a debut album release later this year. Chloe has already played shows with Jesca Hoop across the UK and Europe and at festivals including SXSW, Green Man and Cambridge Folk Festival.

The new single finds Chloe looking back at losing her dad to depression and the effect this had on her understanding and feelings towards mortality: ‘It’s about feelng that everyone’s going to die, which comes about from having grieved once before. But ultimately coming to terms with it and making peace’.

The song, which has elements of the choral beauty of The Staves but combined with the melodic emo-pop of Ratboys, opens with Chloe’s guitar blending with gorgeous strings (arranged by co-writer and producer, Harry Fausing-Smith), before she lays her feelings bare, telling herself to ‘Go easy brain’ – three words that we could all take heed of in tumultuous times.
