Philadelphia’s Cheerleader is the newest band to add to your summer playlist. Their dreamy indie pop creates a smooth, hazy atmosphere that sounds and feels like a warm summer day. Cheerleader has a way with layered vocals and a subtle use of electronic sounds that radiate positive vibes and a sense of freedom. Only having existed as a band for about a year, they’ve already garnered lots of deserved attention — enough to make a trip down to SXSW and the UK’s Great Escape Festival. For a new band, they have a solid and polished sound built on impressive musicianship and songwriting, especially with “Do What You Want”, the middle track of their three song demo.

“Do What You Want” is a feel good, lazy day anthem with an infectious whistled refrain. The gentle driving force of the rhythm guitar and humming bass carries you along the trail of happiness left by lead singer, Joe Haller’s, distorted vocals.
