CentralNic Group plc (AIM: CNIC), the global internet platform which derives revenues from the registration and renewals of domain names, announced today that it has acquired the assets of DomiNIC GmbH, including the DomiNIC domain management software, as part of its core strategy of extending the reach of its platform and increasing the inventory it carries.

Ben Crawford, CEO of CentralNic, said: “This acquisition extends the reach of our platform, enabling us to work directly with the 500 corporations that are obtaining their own new Top-Level Domains (including many of the world’s largest companies), as well as with the thousands of companies that manage significant domain portfolios.”

With twenty years of development history, and a blue-chip customer base in the German-speaking countries, DomiNIC was previously owned by Dominic GmbH.  CentralNic’s strategy in acquiring the software is to make it available globally in English and at least four other languages.

“We are already receiving excellent responses from potential customers, and are confident that DomiNIC will make a healthy contribution to our future profits,” Crawford added.

CentralNic has made two appointments to manage the acquired business.  Marc McCutcheon has joined CentralNic as Manager to oversee the operations of the DomiNIC business.  Mark previously spent seven years with leading corporate registrar and domain consultant NetNames (formerly Group NBT).  CentralNic has also appointed Luigi Turano as Business Development Manager of DomiNIC.  Luigi spent the last six years as an analyst and consultant with Accenture and Wipro.

CentralNic has also entered into a strategic alliance with German company DNSXperts as an outsource supplier of software development and support services for the DomiNIC software, allowing CentralNic to focus its own resources on rapidly growing the user base of DomiNIC via its global relationships and sales channels.

Crawford added, “When we listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market in September 2013, we announced our intention to build our own customer-facing business as an important use of funds.  Since listing we have moved rapidly and efficiently to deliver this serious competitive advantage for the CentralNic business.”
