Parx-e Volume 4 is a limited edition giveaway compilation CD that is all about female acts and female fronted bands from Australia, Canada and USA. The 21 tracks cover various styles and sounds with blues, rock, pop, and jazz elements all finding their way into the mix.

Steph Hannah opens the compilation with the jazzy Eat the crumbs. Steph makes use of her varied vocals using a solid soulful voice up front and light and playful notes in the background.

Deja’s Luckstruck is a dark electronic offering. There is a thick dark atmosphere making you feel like you are out in a storm. This is further enhanced by some soft and eerie vocals!

Girl Pilot’s Bright Bones is a gutsy rock ballad. Her strong voice puts out an amazing feel of angst. This is backed with a great rocking soundtrack full of energy and feeling.

Jasmin Nelson puts forward a soft minimalist offering in Keep her close. Armed mainly with a piano and soft voice, she exerts great emotion and feeling of heartbreak.

Tarra Lane’s Cherry Moonshine is a powerful bluesy tune. Her voice is packed with strength and passion allowing the song to charge ahead.

Samantha Schultz provides a soft and laid back poppy tune in the vein of Claire Bowdidth. The simple minimalist sounds allows her pretty voice and articulate lyrics to shine through.

Miss Elm’s Space is a cute and catchy little tune. Her sweet and pretty voice creates a brith and colourful vibe.

Jenny Dalton’s Nightmare is a chilling rock tune. There is a dark and confronting atmosphere that is enhanced by Jenny’s solid yet eerie vocals.

Amanda Rogers provides a catchy yet slightly menacing offering in Cabin muse. The spooky music paired with her sweet vocals creates an interesting and powerful contrast.

While most of the tracks are winners there are a few weaker moments.

Heather Longstaffe puts forward a country rock offering. She puts out a big energetic sound. However the track doesn’t offer anything particularly new or interesting and comes off as a run of the mill country rock song.

Silver cities’ Lights is a fast rocking tune. While the song is energetic and begins with a bang, it soon becomes rather one dimensional and generic.

This is a brilliant collection of songs showing off a wide range of styles showing off some great up and coming female artists. Better than that the CDs are free to anyone who asks for one, although numbers are limited so you should get in quickly!

The CD is to be given away on Parx-e Web Zine! Check out the website to find out more!
